21. Mai 2025 Liebe Gefährtinnen und Gefährten auf dem Weg, Friedensgrüße. Ich hoffe, Euch geht es gut. Die ganze Welt atmet erleichtert auf nach dem Waffenstillstand zwischen Indien und Pakistan. Die ethische Haltung des sulh-i kull („Frieden mit allem“), die in Südasien eine bemerkenswerte Geschichte aufweist, betont die Wichtigkeit eines grundlegenden guten Willens zwischen Gemeinschaften als Basis für eine beidseitig respektvolle Lösung von Problemen. Im Zeitalter von atomaren Arsenalen und KI-gelenkten Drohnen ist diese Ausrichtung nötiger denn je. Das Leben auf beiden Seiten einer jeden Grenze ist gleich heilig. Wir fahren damit fort, für die Sicherheit und das Wohlergehen aller zu beten, die in Palästina leiden (wo viele Menschen auf tragische Weise sterben), in der Ukraine, der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, Myanmar, Sudan, Südsudan, und in allen anderen Konfliktzonen und annektierten Gebieten der Welt. Möge Frieden und Gerechtigkeit auf jedem Zentimeter der Erde herrschen und jedes Kind Nahrung, ein Zuhause und die Möglichkeit zur Entfaltung erhalten. Papst Franziskus hat diese Welt verlassen. Möge der Widerhall all der guten Arbeit, die er auf der Erde vollbracht hat, ihn wie eine Melodie im Jenseits umhüllen. Und möge es seinem Nachfolger Papst Leo dem XIV. uneingeschränkt gelingen, Papst Franziskus Arbeit an der Stärkung des menschlichen Gewissens und der Linderung des Leidens fortzuführen. Auf freundliche Einladung von Emina Abrahamsdottir und Amat-un-Nur Hayat besuchte ich kürzlich Sarajevo in Bosnien, um an einer Konferenz und Pilgerreise mit dem Namen "The Spring of Reflection" teilzunehmen. Es war erschütternd, die detaillierten Berichte über die rücksichtslosen Massaker an der Zivilbevölkerung zu hören, die in dieser Region in den frühen 1990er Jahren verübt wurden und die bleibenden Wunden des Krieges an den Gebäuden zu sehen. Gleichzeitig war es inspirierend, den ungebrochenen Geist der Menschen und die wunderbare Vitalität der Sufi-Orden in Bosnien zu erleben. Nach meinem Aufenthalt in Bosnien war ich in Deutschland bei unserem jährlichen Frühlings-Retreat, dessen Thema die Symbiose war: das ineinander Weben von Leben, Liebe und Lichtern. Der Geist der Symbiose lag zweifellos in der Luft - in den Übungen, die wir zusammen gemacht haben, in den Freundschaften, die wir erneuert haben, und in der Art, mit der wir uns in vielen Meetings der aktuellen Frage näherten, wie wir in Deutschland, in Europa und in der Welt am harmonischsten und am sinnvollsten zusammenarbeiten können. Das International Board der Inayatiyya ist derzeit mit der Entwicklung eines erneuerten Modells der Zusammenarbeit für unsere weltweite Organisation befasst. Das Ziel ist nicht Zentralisierung, sondern Kohärenz – so wie beispielsweise Bakterien, Algen, Pilze, Archaaen, Viren und Tiere in vielfältigen sich wechselseitig verstärkenden Interaktionen gemeinsam ein blühendes Ökosystem im Korallenriff erschaffen. Der Sommer ist die „Zeit der Rose“ (vaqt-i gul), eine perfekte Zeit für ein Treffen im Garten des Geistes. In diesem Sinne werden wir uns im Juni im Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, USA, treffen, im Juli in Fazal Manzil in Suresnes, Frankreich und im Zenith Camp in Bad Bevensen in Deutschland*. Bitte kommt unbedingt! Mit Blick auf den Herbst formiert sich gerade eine neue zweijährige Suluk Klasse, die im September beginnen wird. Dieses Mal werden zusammen mit mir auch Urs Qutbuddin Schellenberg (Schweiz), Nizam un-Nisa Husain (Kanada), Jacob Dominicus (Vereinigte Staaten) und Gulrukh Patel (Vereinigtes Königreich) unterrichten. Ich freue mich darauf, mit diesem wunderbaren Kollegium zusammenzuarbeiten und die neue Gruppe von Saliks kennenzulernen. Für alle, die eine solide Grundlage in der Inneren Schule erwerben und auf dem Weg der Gemeinschaft reisen möchten, könnte Suluk der perfekte nächste Schritt sein. Schließlich freue ich mich, Euch mitteilen zu können, dass mein Buch „Tears from the Mother of the Sun“ ( mit Bildern der außergewöhnlichen indischen Künstlerin Amruta Patil) jetzt bei Inner Traditions vorbestellt werden kann. Das Buch wird voraussichtlich im Februar 2026 erscheinen. Abschließend möchte ich Euch Frieden wünschen. 21 May 2025 Dear Companions on the Path, Greetings of peace. I hope this finds you well. The whole world is breathing a sigh of relief in the wake of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.  The ethical posture of sulh-i kull (“peace with all”), which has an estimable history in South Asia, emphasizes the importance of fundamental goodwill between communities as a basis for mutually respectful problem-solving. In an age of nuclear arsenals and AI-guided drones, this orientation is needed now more than ever before. The lives on both sides of every border are equally sacred. We continue to pray for the safety and wellbeing of all those who are suffering in Palestine (where many are tragically starving), Ukraine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, Sudan, South Sudan, and every other zone of conflict or conquest in the world. May peace and justice prevail on every inch of the world’s soil, and may every child be fed, housed, and enabled to flourish.  Pope Francis has left the world. May the reverberation of all of the good work he did on Earth surround him as a melody in the hereafter. And may his successor, Pope Leo XIV, abundantly succeed in the continuation of Pope Francis’ work for the elevation of the human conscience and the alleviation of suffering. At the kind invitation of Emina Abrahamsdottir and Amat-un-Nur Hayat, I recently visited Sarajevo, Bosnia, for a conference and pilgrimage entitled The Spring of Reflection. It was heartbreaking to hear detailed accounts of the ruthless massacres of civilians that occured in the region in the early 1990s and to see the abiding scars of war on the buildings of Sarajevo. At the same time, it was inspiring to see the enduring spirit of the people and the wonderful vitality of the Sufi orders in Bosnia.  After Bosnia I was in Germany for our annual spring retreat, the theme of which was Symbiosis: The Intertwining of Lives, Loves, and Lights. The spirit of symbiosis was certainly in the air—in the practices we did together, in the friendships that were renewed, and in the manner in which, in various meetings, we approached the ongoing question of how we can most harmoniously and meaningfully work together in Germany, Europe, and the world at large. The Inayatiyya International Board is currently stewarding the emergence of an updated model of collaboration for our worldwide organization. The aim is not centralization but coherence—the way in which, for instance, in their various mutually-enhancing interactions bacteria, algae, fungi, archaea, viruses, and animals together create a thriving coral reef ecosystem.
